10 discrimination investigations opened against Union County Public Schools
UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Federal investigators are looking into several discrimination cases at Union County Public Schools, including reports of sexual and racial harassment. The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights opened 10 investigations into discrimination at Union County Public Schools on April 2, according to records. There are two investigations each for complaints of sexual harassment, racial harassment, retaliation, discipline, and denial of benefits.
2-year-old airlifted to Charlotte hospital after Monroe robbery, police say
MONROE, N.C. — A 2-year-old boy was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital after a home invasion in Union County on Tuesday afternoon, Monroe Police said. The incident happened a little after 2:30 p.m. at a home on East Talleyrand Avenue, just off East Franklin Street and Morgan Mill Road. The adult victim called the police, telling dispatchers that a man attacked her while she was going inside the house with the toddler. The robber demanded cash during the assault, according to police.
