Confederate Tribes of Umatilla Indian Reservation executive director resigns
The top employee for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is stepping down. The tribes announced that the CTUIR Board of Trustees voted Monday to accept executive director Don Sampson’s resignation effective May 10, ending his second stint as the administrative head of the government for the Umatilla, Cayuse and Walla Walla tribes.
Umatilla School district announces new high school leadership
UMATILLA – The Umatilla School District has a new leadership team in place at the high school. After Principal Bob Lorence, Vice Principal April Dirksen, and Office Manager Debbie Tesch announced their retirements at the end of this school year, the district was left with the task of filling those key roles.
Kennewick streets being surveyed for improvements
KENNEWICK, Wash. - The City of Kennewick announced on Facebook its partnership with Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) to survey all public streets in Kennewick. The survey, which started Fri., May 3, has the IMS capturing 3D images of the streets of Kennewick to measure rutting and roughness and collect GPS data. The City says this will help plan future roadway maintenance.
Mother faces prison time after 4-year-old overdoses in Eastern Washington motel
The mother of a 4-year-old who died from a fentanyl overdose pleaded guilty Tuesday to her daughter getting into her drugs. Judy Bribiescas, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in Benton County Superior Court. She was initially charged with first-degree manslaughter. TRCI Inmate Dies
An Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) adult in custody, Richard L. Kerns, died the morning of April 25. Kerns was incarcerated at Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) in Umatilla and passed away at the institution. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified, and the State Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
