Turner Co. Police take in abandoned puppies

Sheriff Andy Hester tells me that Turner County Police have been on a mission to collect and help these abandoned animals.

ASHBURN, Ga. – Meet this adorable lab puppy that was found lying helpless on the side of the road until Turner County Police took it in.

“Had a citizen complaint saying she picked up two puppies, looked like they’ve been dumped out. So he brought them back to the office kennel,” said Captain Thomas Fletcher, Turner County Police.

Sadly one of the puppies had critical injuries.

“One of the puppies couldn’t really walk, was just kind of dragging along backside. They did a quick evaluation and determined one of the legs were broken,” said Captain Fletcher.

Sheriff Andy Hester tells me that Turner County Police have been on a mission to collect and help these abandoned animals.

“Since 2011 we’ve been aggressively trying to pick up nuisance animals whatever they are, cats, dogs,” said Sheriff Andy Hester.

Sheriff Hester also had a strong message for pet owners in the area…

“If you’re going to get an animal take care of your animal because if you don’t somebody else is going to have to or it’s going to be a nuisance to everybody else,” said Sheriff Andy Hester.

Turner County Police told me they’d wait four more days for the rightful owner to pick the dog up before sending it off to a shelter.
