Sports Awards 2023 Nominees Announced, Registration Open for November 9 Celebration
The Olympia & Beyond Sports Commission, a division of Experience Olympia & Beyond, will host the sixth annual Thurston County Sports Awards on Thursday, November 9 starting at 5:00 p.m. at South Puget Sound Community College. The event, presented by Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, will honor 37 local athletes, coaches, sports influencers and enthusiasts in the community with seven awards. Tickets can be purchased in advance online.
Volleyball continues their hot start to their season after beating Capital
Last week, the Olympia Bears Volleyball team took on their cross-town rivals, the Capital Cougars. With the stands packed from both schools, the Bears crushed the Cougs in a clean sweep of 3 to 0. Two days later, they took down the Curtis Vikings in a 5-set thriller and now have a season record of 4-1 with much of the season.

Hosted by the American Lung Association, Reach the Beach Cycle for Air is welcoming riders back from across the Pacific Northwest for its signature fundraising event, Cycle for Air, at 7 a.m. on Sept. 30. The event helps raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research, and advocacy efforts, a release from the organization said. The ride starts in Lacey and ends with a beachside celebration in Westport. Riders can choose distance options ranging from 25, 44, 77, or 100 miles.
