Firefighters and police officers fight MMA style for charity at 'Smoke & Guns IX'

TULSA, Okla. — Firefighters and police officers are stepping into octagon at the BOK Center, battling each other MMA style for a good cause.

It's the ninth annual Smoke & Guns charity fight.

The event raises money for Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp and Special Olympics of Oklahoma.

Organizers said it started as a competitive joke but has grown into an annual benefit.

"Out there on the street firefighters, law enforcement, we have each other’s back every day, but there's always a little bit of smack talk, we have healthy competition, so we thought what better way than to raise money for two great charities by knocking each other out a little bit,” said Tulsa Fire Union President Matt Lay.

If you aren’t able to attend tonight’s fight, Smoke & Guns will be streaming on their Facebook page .

So far, the event has raised around $400,000 for charity.
