TULSA, Okla. — The Church Studio’s Carney Fest 2024 kicked off on Saturday morning with performances from Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs and more.

The all-day cultural music festival featured live performances, food and a carnival-like atmosphere.

The festival also showcased a lineup of artists ranging from a broad range of genres including rock, country, hip-hop, R&B and more.

FOX23 spoke with Teresa Knox who is the CEO of The Church Studio.

Knox said this is their second annual festival celebrating artists who have recorded at The Church Studio as well as a celebration of the studio itself.

“It’s also a big nod to the late Leon Russell who purchased this old church and turned it into a world class recording studio in 1972,” Knox said.

Knox said all of the artists who were performing at the festival recorded with The Church Studio.

“We are so excited for the lineup including the ‘Queen of the Tulsa Sound’ Ann Bell and the Tulsa Sound, which is her band. She’s opening up for Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs. Mike Campbell got his start here in 1974 with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers,” Knox said.

All proceeds from the festival will benefit The Church Studio Music Foundation, which is a charitable organization.
