TULSA, Okla. — Dozens of BMX racers are rolling into Tulsa as they hope to eventually earn a spot for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Justin Whal, the spokesperson for USA BMX, told FOX23 The Union Cycliste International BMX Racing World Cup is a big deal.

"We're just excited to see the U.S. racers compete [against] those international racers that they see on the other side of the world," Whal explained. "Now, it's on our home turf."

More than 170 elite bike racers from all over the world will be competing.

"It's an Olympic sport. Our U.S. racers are going to be using these points to qualify for Paris later in the summer," he said.

Whal said racers are in Tulsa from 27 different countries.

"We have great Britain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, new Zealand, it's really all over the place," Whal explained.
