The first black woman owned radio station in Tulsa, The Greenwood Beat, is now live.
The hosts say the stations purpose is to give a positive voice to a community that’s been pushed aside.
The station will air live entertainment 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Whether it be music or one of their multitude of talk shows focusing on bringing justice to the community.
Chief of operations, Francetta Mays, says this is an opportunity for the community to share their voice, whether it be information on a fundraiser, an event, or sharing words or praise or even a poem.
"This is an opportunity for our community," Mays said. "We don't want this to be a radio station that's just for Angela and I. We really want the people in the community those that maybe are poets. We'd like to have a poetry night. We want to bring back the old school church music. We're rebuilding the foundation that we get to stand on in the radio community here in Tulsa.”
You can tune in now on their station WFPG, listen on apple music or on their website.
