ITSELF AND FOR INNOCENT LIVES ARE LOST AFTER A GUNMAN VOWED TO KILL HIS DOCTOR. AND ANYONE WHO TRIED TO STOP HIM. TODAY, FRIENDS LOOK BACK ON THIS YEAR AND WHAT THEY HOPE COMES FROM THIS IMMENSE TRAGEDY. ON JUNE 1ST CHANGED US. THE THE WOUNDS FROM THAT TERRIBLE DAY WILL NEVER FULLY HEAL. THE LOSSES FROM THAT DAY WILL NEVER BE OVERCOME. AT 452 ON JUNE 1ST, 2022, A PATIENT WITH A MISSION TO KILL HIS DOCTOR STORMED THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE NATALIE BUILDING AT SAINT FRANCIS HOSPITAL, PROMISING TO KILL ANYONE WHO GOT IN HIS WAY. IN JUST SIX MINUTES, THE SHOOTER FIRED 37 SHOTS, KILLING FOUR PEOPLE AND THEN HIMSELF AS POLICE APPROACHED. IT’S TOO SURREAL THAT IT’S BEEN A YEAR, BUT I LOVE THE FACT THAT I HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL, SOLID, BRIGHT MEMORIES OF DOCTOR PHILLIPS AND I WILL TREASURE THAT ALL THE TIME. DR. PRESTON PHILLIPS, DR. STEPHANIE HEWSON, RECEPTIONIST, AMANDA GLENN AND PATIENT WILLIAM LOVE WERE KILLED IN A LETTER FOUND ON THE GUNMAN’S BODY. AUTHORITIES SAY HE BLAMED DR. PHILLIPS FOR HIS ONGOING PAIN. ONE MONTH AFTER HIS BACK SURGERY. HE FRIEND AND FORMER COLLEAGUE WHO WORKED ALONGSIDE DR. PHILLIPS FOR A DECADE, SAID HE WOULD NEVER TURN HIS BACK ON ANYONE. HE NEVER WOULD LET SOMEONE GO BY IF HE COULD SEE THAT THERE WAS A FRUSTRATION. HE POINT THAT I THINK HE WOULD SAY TO IS TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND AND JUST BEING THE QUALITY OF PERSON THAT HE WAS. AND TREATING PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY ALL THE TIME, PERMEATED EVERYBODY THAT WAS AROUND HIM. THOSE CLOSE WITH THE VICTIMS SAY IT’S BEEN A YEAR OF LOSS AND HEARTBREAK FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THIS TRAGEDY. IT WAS A CONVENING OF HEROES ALL UNITED BY THAT COMMON BELIEF THAT EVERY LIFE IS SACRED. SAINT FRANCIS HOSPITAL HELD A PRIVATE MEMORIAL TODAY FOR THE FOUR
