Thursday, Tulsa Police Department reported a Wednesday, May 31, arrest of an ex-convict for an armed robbery of a Tulsa woman.
According to TPD, on Monday, May 29, at approximately 10:30 p.m. the woman was leaving her place of employment in the area of 1100 S. Garnett Rd.
As she approached her vehicle, a red Chevy Silverado approached with its light off.
The passenger in the Silverado exited the truck, ran up to the victim, pulled out a pistol, and robbed her of cash and her cell phone.
The suspect then ran back to the truck which fled the scene.
Robbery detectives located and recovered the suspect vehicle and identified and arrested 37-year-old Jose Moreno.
Previously, Moreno was deported by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement after spending time in prison and has since returned to the United States.
When he was booked at the Tulsa County Jail on May 31, officers were notified of a foreign object lodged in Moreno's rectum during a body scan.
Moreno admitted to concealing a vape pen, was taken to an area hospital where the electronic nicotine delivery system was retrieved, and transported back to jail.
He was arrested on the following charges:
- Robbery with a Firearm after former conviction of a felony
- Pointing a Deadly Weapon after former conviction of a felony
- False Impersonation after former conviction of a felony
- Failure to stop for a red light
- No driver's license
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of tobacco in jail
In addition to the charges, Moreno is also being held on an I.C.E. hold.
