Five Tulsa Runners Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

TULSA, Okla. – Five members of The University of Tulsa cross country and track & field teams were named to the Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), it was announced today. This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. 
 
The female selections are Chloe Hershenow and Chloe McEachern, both juniors, while the male runners include seniors Scott Beattie, Cormac Dalton and Micheal Power.
 
Hershenow (St. Louis, Mo.) has maintained a 3.972 grade point average in mechanical engineering. On the track, Hershenow was a three-time American Athletic Conference individual champion this past season, winning the outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m as well as capturing the league's cross-country title in the fall.  She was also a five-time first-team all-AAC performer this season and advanced to the national championship in cross country and the NCAA Regional meet for outdoor track.
 
McEachern (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) has a 4.00 GPA in speech pathology. On the track, she was a first-team AAC selection for indoor track in the distance medley relay this year. McEachern was also a key member on Tulsa's Cross Country Championship team in the fall.
 
Beattie (Newcastle, England) had a 3.86 GPA in accounting. He won the 5,000m at The American's Indoor Championship with a new meet record of 13:52.51 for his third career indoor title, while earning all-conference honors for both indoor and outdoor track. He also is the school record-holder in the indoor 3,000m (7:49.33) and 5,000m (13:32.38). 
 
Dalton (Mullinger, Ireland) has posted a 3.786 GPA for his MBA at Tulsa. He claimed the league title for the 5,000m at the AAC Outdoor Championship after earning all-conference honors for cross country and indoor track. He also earned All-America honors in cross country for the second straight year with a 15th place performance at the NCAA Championships in the fall.
 
Power (Dungarvan, Ireland) has maintained a 3.786 GPA in business. He earned all-conference honors this season for cross country and indoor track, while winning The American's 3,000m indoor race and placing third at the AAC Cross Country Championship behind teammates Isaac Akers and Dalton.
 
Beattie and Dalton will each compete at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 10,000-meter run on June 7.
 
The academic all-district honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Academic Track & Cross Country All-America team will be announced June 28 for women and June 29 for the men.
