A GoFundMe has been created for member of the Tulsa-based band CLIFFDIVER after a freak accident nearly cost him his life.
The band was headed to Las Vegas to perform on Friday, May 26, to help support the nonprofit Punk Rock Saves Lives. When they were an hour outside of Tulsa near Stroud, the band heard a loud boom.
The band member driving at the time, Tyler was unconscious and his foot was locked on the gas pedal.
After the passengers were able to move Tyler's foot, they saw severe injuries to his neck and called for help.
"Once he was stable and paramedics were able to examine him, the sheriff approached us and told us that they found a large steel chain link lodged in his neck. The only reasonable explanation of what happened is that a semi-truck was pulling a trailer that had a load-bearing chain strap that had snapped under pressure, launching the chain link across the interstate and through our van window into Tyler's neck," said Matt Ehler, fundraiser organizer.
According to the fundraiser, doctors told the band that Tyler's outcome is "nothing short of a miracle", despite the long recovery and possibility of his carotid artery rupturing.
