Riders and more than 100 horses are in Tulsa for the annual Green Country Arabian Horse Association Spring Fling.

Competitors and horses from across the region will show off skills in several different areas this weekend vying to earn a spot in Nationals in October.

The Spring Fling is a regional qualifying show, so people travel from as far as South Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas.

Jessie Holland is the President of Green Country Arabian Horse Association. She said riders and horses are competing in several different styles.

"We have main reign classes, which would be western pleasure, hunter pleasure, country English pleasure, etc. and halter,” Holland said.

The U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse Show happens every fall in Tulsa bringing in riders from around the country and world.

Holland said this gives competitors the opportunity to sharpen their talents in the same arena.

"I love it because it's the only qualifying show in Oklahoma that we have and it's the only show in Oklahoma, or actually only show at all, before U.S. Nationals for our exhibitors to come into the arena and practice so they actually have access to the Nationals pens,” Holland said.

The show is happening through Sunday and will also feature cattle and working western classes. It's open to anyone and free to watch.
