Along with seeing the beautiful views the Oxley Nature Center has to offer, visitors can now also watch the creative process of the center's new artist-in-residence, Kayla Anley.

Anley primarily uses charcoal to bring to life the North American grasslands, animals, and plants that once thrived in the Great Plains. She hopes this series will bring attention to the complex and interconnected relationship between the natural world and humans.

“I believe that by highlighting the beauty and complexity of these ecosystems, we can inspire people to take action to protect and preserve them,” Anley said.

The Artist-In-Residence Studio will be open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning March 21 and lasting through September 2023.

The center will provide art supplies, including paper and charcoal, to anyone who wants to try wildlife sketching.

Artist workshops for various age groups will be held on the first Saturday of each month beginning in April. The class is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $5 for Oxley members and $10 for non-members. To register for art classes, call the Oxley Nature Center at (918) 596-9054.
