One dead in fatal crash in Tularosa

New Mexico State Police said the driver of a off-road vehicle died when it crashed on March 5.

Aubrey Pinson, 33 of Tularosa, sustained fatal injuries and was transported to a local hospital around 10:50 p.m.

According to State Police, alcohol was a factor in the crash. The investigators also noted that Pinson was not properly using a seatbelt while driving the vehicle.

The vehicle, a 2021 Polaris side by side, crashed on Sabinat Lane though investigators said they are still determining what caused the driver to veer off the road and strike a road sign and telephone pole.

The investigation is ongoing.
