AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) - We saw quite the rain and snow showers yesterday down the I-40 corridor from Tucumcari, NM to McLean, TX!
Totals were generally in the Trace-0.25" range but we had as much as 0.46" of precipitation on the north side of Amarillo! This was fantastic to see some moisture; however, the cold front has brought some frigid temperatures.
Temperatures are tumbling into the 20s this morning and wind chills in the low double digits can be expected to greet you outside your front door this morning.
High temperatures this afternoon will only reach the 40s with a very similar day anticipated for Saturday so the winter coats becomes part of the wardrobe for the next 2 days.
Cold air will be slow to leave with highs still limited to the 50s on Sunday but jumping into next week we will gradually warm up. Widespread high temperatures in the 70s look to return by next Wednesday.
Hope you enjoyed the recent rain and snow because our forecast returns to status quo with dry and windy conditions for much of next week. The overall pattern does not favor much moisture but could be considered active with low pressure systems developing in eastern Colorado on a regular basis but this placement would likely keep us in the windy and dry section of these storm systems through the rest of the month.
