Eastbound Interstate 80 reopens after crashes force several hour closure

(KTXL) — A crash involving 10 vehicles in Truckee kept eastbound Interstate 80 closed for several hours on Wednesday morning and another collision held traffic near Colfax, according to the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans.

At 11:29 a.m., Caltrans District 3 announced that all eastbound Interstate 80 lanes have been reopened.

Truckee Big Rig Crash

Traffic along eastbound Interstate 80 in the Sierra is being diverted onto SR-89 due to a multi-vehicle collision, according to the CHP Truckee station. Only minor injuries are being reported.

At 6 a.m., the CHP shared on QuickMap that the scene is expected to be cleared by 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The crash has caused the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District to issue a delayed start due to staff coming from Reno being unable to commute, according to the district.

Chain controls are in place in both directions along the interstate from the Donner Lake Interchange to Rainbow.

Colfax Collision

Caltrans District 3 shared at 8:09 a.m., that eastbound I-80 was closed between Colfax and State Route 267 due to multiple traffic collisions.

There is currently no estimated time of reopening.
