TROY (WWJ) -- A Warren man is expected to face charges after it's alleged he was caught driving drunk and without a license, with a bottle of booze in his car in Oakland County.

Troy Police pulled the 32-year-old suspect over shortly before 6 a.m. last Saturday after they said he was clocked speeding in a 2015 Range Rover along I-75, north of Crooks Road.

Officers said when they spoke with the driver he smelled strongly of booze, and they saw a bottle of vodka in the backseat.

The driver allegedly told police that he was on his way to work and he not had anything to drink, but admitted that he didn't have a valid driver's license.

After he failed a series of field sobriety tests police said the man tested at .161% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer test.

That's more than twice the legal limit for driving under Michigan law.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy PD lock-up where a Chemical Breath Test showed a .16% and .15%.

Police said the case was turned over to the detective bureau for appropriate warrants.

The man's name was not immediately released.
