DENVER -- East Lincoln's baseball and softball teams hosted North Iredell March 22 in late afternoon action as rain moved into the area. The baseball team cruised to a 10-0 victory to snap a three-game losing skid after opening the season as winners of six in a row. Trey Spees launched a solo home run, while Evan Matile, Brandon Washington and JT Roche collected two RBIs apiece. Junior Braden Kendall was dominant on the mound, allowing just three hits in six shutout innings. East Lincoln fell 15-11 in a barnburner on the softball diamond. The Mustangs were led by sophomore Lyla Haywood, who delivered three hits -- including a double -- and drove in four runs. The loss was East Lincoln's first since Taniyah Thomas and Emery Pethel joined the team following basketball season.
