OSBURN, Idaho - This bridge over I-90 in the Silver Valley has been abandoned for years, and now a group of locals have set out to make the bridge a wildlife overpass. The area has been known as a heavily populated wildlife area. Dozens of elk and deer running across I-90 and being struck by oncoming traffic.
Recovery group Thrive now offered in Wallace
WALLACE — A new sobriety recovery group called Thrive is being offered Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the Wallace Library. Run by Tanner Marshall, the recovery group hopes to be an informal option for people struggling with sobriety and socialization outside the bar scene.

The picks are in for the 2023 Western B Football All-Conference teams, and to no one’s surprise, Thompson Falls’ massive down lineman Hayden Hanks brought home the most hardware.Hanks, a 6-4 270 pound senior offensive and defensive linemen for the Blue Hawks 2023 playoff team was named to the All-State team for Class B, 11-man football team, as well as first team defensive lineman and second team offensive lineman for the Conference.Earlier this year, Hanks signed a football scholarship to play for Boise State University, a Division I school in the NCAA Mountain West Conference.Also named to the postseason teams...
Care packages sent to active-duty troops
Volunteers at the Plains VFW Post 3596 last week continued a long-standing tradition of assembling care packages for each active-duty service member from Sanders County.Volunteers included Janet and Dave Brandon, Barb Kincaid, Linda Barnes Nora Verpoorten, Pat Farmer and Cindy Gray. Gray said local businesses contributed most of the items that were being sent to service members. Several local businesses were Plains Drug, The Printery, NAPA, Valley Press and Quinn’s Hot Springs. Almost $600 in cash was donated to send over 20 packages around the world. Each package sent cost $22. Items donated included toiletries, pens and writing paper, candy, snacks, local newspapers, socks and Christmas ornaments. A personal touch was added to each package that included a handwritten letter from a Plains fifth or sixth grader. Gray said, “They’re just some awesome letters from the kids.” Plains fifth and sixth-grade letters written to active-duty service members from Sanders County. Plains Montana Lions Club District 37 completed its countywide school vision screening tests last week.Lion’s volunteers Whitney Tanner, Marvin Tanner, Margo Tanner and Lions President Steve Spurr were on hand at the Plains school gym to perform vision testing Wednesday morning for each of the elementary students. Vision testing at the Plains School District was the last school to be tested in Sanders County. Countywide scanning started Oct. 24 by the Lions Club. Wallace Lady Patriots lose to Lawson State, men pull out a win
The Wallace Community College Patriots hosted the Lawson State Cougars on Saturday afternoon. The women’s game took a slow start from both teams, but by the second quarter each team had begun to find their rhythm.
