11 arrested after multi-city drug investigation leads to kilos of meth, guns, thousands in cash
HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — Multiple people were arrested following a multi-city drug investigation. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the investigation began in September. Agents identified members of a drug trafficking organization living in Haralson, Carroll, Heard, and Troup counties and Cleburne County, Alabama. After a months-long joint investigation, authorities conducted search warrants at Daniel Lee Provo’s home in Temple, Clarissa Carla King’s home in Buchanan, and Matthew Wilson Strickland’s home in Lagrange. On Nov. 9, the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies sized five kilos of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana, fentanyl, and psilocybin mushrooms.

Two found dead in West Point home identified, GBI investigating death
WEST POINT, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now involved after two people were found dead in a home in Troup County on Sunday night. West Point Police said in a Facebook post on Monday that a man and a woman were found shot to death in the home located at 614 Avenue B. Officers were called to the home just around 8:15 p.m. for a welfare check which then turned into the death investigation.
LaFayette honors Five Points with thrilling win over Troup
LaFayette’s boys basketball team honored Five Points in the perfect way on Tuesday as the Bulldogs came from behind and took a thrilling 53-50 win over Troup County. The plays of the night came from Vaderrian Story, Branaviyun Story and Deaundre Vines. Vines hit a floater that put LaFayette in a one-point lead with less than 30 seconds left in the game. Branaviyun Story took charge with five seconds left, keeping the Tigers from taking the lead. Vaderrian Story then hit two free throws to ice the game with seconds left.

Fatal High-Speed Chase in Troup County
In a tragic turn of events, a high-speed chase unfolded in Troup County on Monday, culminating in a fatal outcome. The pursuit commenced just before 2:45 p.m. when Troup County deputies, in collaboration with the West Point Police Department, engaged in a chase with a vehicle speeding at a daunting 100 mph on I-85. Described as operating in an "extremely reckless" manner amidst traffic, the situation prompted law enforcement to employ a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver in an effort to terminate the chase. Regrettably, the maneuver led to the vehicle careening off the road, somersaulting multiple times, and ultimately ejecting the driver. Tragically, the driver succumbed to injuries despite being rushed to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
