The town of Trophy Club is using a search firm to help hire a new town manager.

During the May council meeting, Place 6 Council Member Steve Flynn provided an update on the progress since former Town Manager Wade Carroll left in late March.

What’s happening?

Carroll left to take a job at nearby Westlake for the same position, and council voted to appoint police Chief Patrick Arata as the interim city manager. He’s been the chief since 2014 and was the town manager on an interim basis in 2016 as well.

Current situation

The town partnered with Strategic Government Resources from Keller to help find a permanent town manager. According to the website, the company partners with local governments to recruit, assess and develop innovative, collaborative and authentic leaders.

Quote of note

“We are right in the throes of hiring a new town manager,” Flynn said. “We’ve done the right thing. We went outside to SGR. They are, well, well-known entity in this type of things. We are are going out professionally, and it started out about a month ago. ... We will get the best possible candidates from all over. We will get an individual here to lead us into the next future. That is on the horizon.”
