(WWJ) – A Northern Michigan woman is awaiting charges after Michigan State Police arrested her with meth and an illegal taser the morning of Memorial Day.
A trooper stopped a car in Garfield Township – just south of Traverse City – around 7:30 a.m. Monday and the woman, a front seat passenger in the car, gave a false name, according to MSP officials.
She then walked away from the traffic stop.
But she was soon identified as a 27-year-old woman from Kingsley with multiple warrants for her arrest.
She was found walking a short distance away on David Place and was taken into custody for her warrants.
During her arrest the woman was carrying a large backpack and told the trooper she had a taser inside of it. During a search of her backpack, the trooper found approximately five grams of methamphetamine and a stun gun/Taser, which she was carrying unlawfully.
Other paraphernalia such as pipes and a digital scale were also found, according to MSP officials, who tweeted a photo of the items seized.
The woman was booked at the Grand Traverse County Jail. Her name has not been released, pending formal arraignment.
