It’s never too early to think about retirement, and where you live plays a huge role in your quality of life during those golden years.

Surprisingly, four North Carolina cities rank among the worst places to retire in the United States, according to WalletHub.

WalletHub's survey analyzed hundreds of U.S. cities, considering factors like affordability, activities, quality of life, healthcare, and weather.

Florida, with its sunny skies and popular retirement communities, dominated the top spots, while North Carolina cities struggled to make the list of the best.

Raleigh managed to rank #50, and Durham came in at #55 on the list of the best places to retire.

However, Charlotte (#109), Winston-Salem (#121), Fayetteville (#147), and Greensboro (#162) landed among the worst.

These rankings reflect concerns about affordability and quality of life for retirees in these cities.

How ironic. Another article almost identically worded except best versus worse says that Charlotte was voted best place to retire.
