North Carolina Fall Weather Forecast is a Shocker

    2024-08-22

Fall is approaching, and many are curious about what to expect for North Carolina’s weather. Will it be warm like recent years, or can we expect a chill?

So, what do the experts at the Farmer’s Almanac and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predict for North Carolina’s fall weather in 2024? The forecasts offer some surprising insights.

    North Carolina Fall Weather Forecast

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its annual fall forecast for 2024, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting season. Unlike past years where a single trend dominated the country, this year’s forecast is more varied.

The Almanac predicts that while some parts of the U.S. will experience unseasonably warm temperatures, others will see a colder fall than usual. Overall, though, they’re calling for a warmer fall across much of the country. As they put it, “Your trek to the pumpkin patch may be a bit steamy this year.”

In terms of specific regions, the Almanac forecasts significantly warmer-than-usual falls for the Heartland, Pacific Northwest, Texas-Oklahoma area, and several other regions. On the flip side, colder-than-normal temperatures are expected in the Southeast, including North Carolina, as well as Florida, the Appalachians, and the Atlantic Corridor.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center offers a slightly different outlook. They project above-normal temperatures for most of the U.S. from September through November, with the strongest chances for warmer weather in the Northeast, Florida, and the Plains. As for precipitation, NOAA expects it to be above normal in the East and Southeast, including North Carolina.

So, what does all this mean for North Carolina specifically?

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, residents can expect “below average” temperatures this fall, with average rainfall. However, NOAA’s forecast suggests it might be warmer than usual with above-average precipitation.

It seems North Carolina could be in for a mixed bag this fall, and only time will tell which prediction holds true.
