South Jordan one of six new cities to earn Healthy Utah Community designation

(File photo City Journals) Six new cities, including South Jordan, have earned the Healthy Utah Community designation, while 11 cities were redesignated as Healthy Utah Communities. The awards were announced Friday, April 19, at the Utah League of Cities and Towns Midyear Conference in St. George. Mapleton, Orem, Saratoga Springs, Smithfield, South Jordan and West Point have each earned the Healthy Utah Community designation.

Springmeyer named WVC Economic Development Director

His appointment was confirmed at a council meeting in early May. His appointment was recommended by city manager Ifo Pili.
Firefighter injured battling 4 alarm blaze Thursday night in West Valley City
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters had their hands full Thursday night wrangling a strip mall fire in West Valley City. At least five departments were still on scene at 9 p.m. at the fire that began in a restaurant at 4616 S 4000 W, according to emergency dispatchers.
Nostalgic Redwood Drive-in may come down in favor of additional housing
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — Developers are asking the West Valley City to rezone the popular Redwood Drive-In so they can build housing units on the land. Edge Homes wants the property rezoned so they can build over 300 housing units, including townhomes, condos and some single-family lots on the drive-in located at 3688 South Redwood Road.
Man found dead on Tooele trucking company grounds
LAKE POINT, Tooele County — One man was found dead on the grounds of a trucking company in Tooele County Wednesday, according to North Tooele Fire District. The fire department says it became an “all hands on deck moment” because the trucking business deals with volatile chemicals, and because of the uncertainty of what caused the employee to die.

An energetic group of South Jordan residents, staff members and company volunteers joined together for the annual Arbor Day event. “We just appreciate you being here. Surveillance video in Kearns captures car blow through red light, cause crash, drive away
KEARNS — A driver was facing a potential felony charge after police said he drove away from an injury crash Thursday and then fled from an officer who tried to stop him. According to Unified Police Sgt. Bruce Huntington, the crash happened around 4 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 5400 South and 4220 West.
