Tontitown man pleads not guilty to charges related to Lake Fayetteville shooting

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Tontitown man arrested in connection with a shooting that left one dead and four injured at Lake Fayetteville pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, according to court documents.

Jose Luis Casillas, 20, was arrested on March 20 on unlawful discharge of a firearm in a vehicle, first-degree terroristic threatening, aggravated assault and engaging in violent group activity charges.

Fayetteville and Springdale police responded to a shooting call at the Lake Fayetteville Environmental Studies Center at 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 15, where they found a man, later identified as 18-year-old Christian Alexander Rodriguez-Barroso , with a fatal gunshot wound.

Fourth suspect arrested in fatal Lake Fayetteville shooting

According to an arrest report, video footage of the scene showed a large gathering of people eventually getting into a fistfight. There were gunshots, and the people were seen running to their vehicles and exiting the area.

Three other arrests in the case have been made:

  • Gilberto Gordillo , 20, was arrested on Feb. 21 on capital murder and four attempted murder charges. He pleaded not guilty on March 15 .
  • Alberto Esteban-Cruz , 21, was arrested on March 15 on attempted murder, terroristic act, and engaging in violent criminal group activity charges. He pleaded not guilty on April 12 .
  • Pablo Garcia , 20, was arrested on April 10 for hindering apprehension or prosecution and tampering with physical evidence.

Casillas is set to appear in court on July 15.
