Employees at several Toledo Rite Aid locations confirmed that all of the drugstore chain’s Ohio outlets will be closed by the end of next month.

According to employees at multiple locations, all prescriptions maintained by Rite Aid pharmacy will be transferred to the nearest Walgreens. Consumers who prefer not to have their medications dispensed by Walgreens should contact their pharmacy of choice, which will transfer the prescriptions to that store.

Local stores at 3325 Central Ave., 1012 W. Sylvania Ave., 810 E. Manhattan Blvd., 1605 Broadway St., 4869 N. Summit St., and 3013 Monroe St. have been told that their stores will be closing and that employees will receive two weeks’ notice but have not been given a date.

The store at 3362 Navarre Ave. will be closing Wednesday. Employees there stated that they received only 10 days' notice of the shutdown.

Other Toledo-area stores could not be reached for comment.

Representatives at Rite Aid’s corporate office in Camp Hill, Pa., did not respond to requests for comment.

I'm confused by this. My mom was prescribed opiates as an alternative treatment for her chronic pain conditions, and actually had to stop going to Rite Aid because they kept refusing the fill scrips for her. But now they're shutting down because they were being sued for filling TOO MANY of these prescriptions?
