Creek Canoe and Kayak Regatta once again a hit

The Annual Pennington Creek Canoe and Kayak festival was held on May 20. The event hosts a race as well as other watercraft activities and lunch in the park.

Tishomingo,Okla.ishome to a place in history often referred to as Good Springs and rightfully so as directly in the heart of town sets the majestic natural spring fed Pennington Creek that elegantly wanders through town. The creek has been a water source for decades and continues to be a vital and sole source of water for the Tishomingo.

The Johnston County Chamber of Commerce along with others hosted this event and are expecting it to become national as awareness continues to grow.

The event warranted two winners, Topper and Janna DuncanandHudsonBuchanan, the prize of $20 chamber bucks. The original date for the event was rained out, so the chamber was forced to reschedule.

Theneweventdateturned out to be a perfect choice as the weather was beautiful. One might say the race was a success since many smiles and paddles were both easily seen.

Chamber representatives mentioned that another regatta is in the not too distant future. They mentioned that scheduling an event on Pennington Creek can be challenging when many factors like creek water levels can be very unpredictable from day to day.

When it comes to kayaks and canoes, Pennington Creek is the perfect location because of its natural spring waters. They have an appeal experienced only upon its banks and the park area is the perfect venue for a large crowd.
