This Old-School New Mexico Meat Market Is A Flavor Paradise For Foodies
A good steak has a way of changing your plans. You might stop for ground beef and leave thinking about the grill instead. That kind of temptation is easy to understand at this New Mexico meat market, where the cuts are laid out behind glass and the butchers can help with a special request. The storefront has a red roof, but you will probably spend more time looking at what’s inside.

Line + Tide Poké Bar – Rio Rancho, New Mexico
For young people starting their first corporate jobs, it doesn’t take long before idealistic naivete is dealt a cruel blow by the reality of the corporate world. They soon discover a measurable disconnect between a company’s ethical values and actual operational behavior. While the stated purpose of mission, vision and values statements is to “inspire trust and guide strategy,” they function more as marketing shields and public relation tools rather than true operational framework. Mission, vision and values statements ring hollow when a company pledges to prioritze employee well-being (how many times have you heard or seen the phrase “people are our most valuable asset”) but discard those values when quarterly earnings or shareholder returns are threatened.

What to Eat This Month: La Cocina
Inside Rio Rancho's El Paisano Market, La Cocina fills a hefty burrito with rice, beans, and a batterd chile relleno oozing Jack cheese. I’VE NEVER HAD SO many responses to an Instagram story as I did after recently sharing a chile relleno burrito from La Cocina, tucked inside El Paisano Market, in Rio Rancho. I sliced the hefty burrito in half to reveal rice, beans, and a battered chile relleno nucleus oozing molten Jack cheese across my plate. (Snaps of the mole tacos and menudo drew plenty of love too.) Beyond La Cocina, the mercado, owned by Adam Padilla—whose in-laws own El Paisano Supermarkets in Santa Fe and Española—packs in a full carnicería; fresh produce; house-made tortillas, tamales, and salsas; and its signature El Jerky Loco jerky products. Come for lunch, leave with tomorrow’s groceries—and perhaps a piñata you didn’t know you needed.
