Extra deer and elk tags available for multi-season hunters

    2024-08-21

Deer and elk hunters who bought a multi-season permit application this year could pick up an extra deer or elk tag, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reports.

Starting today, the next 130 hunters on the original draw list will get to choose from one of 2,369 remaining multi-season deer tags and 130 multi-season elk tags, according to the WDFW. The original multi-season draw, the department reports, is being used to prevent people from flooding retail locations.

The 130 winners will be notified by the WDFW over email, according to the department. There will be no deadline for newly eligible individuals to buy their tag, the WDFW reports further.

Multi-season deer tags will be sold online while supplies last or at authorized license dealers statewide. The WDFW's regional offices and the headquarters office in Olympia are also open for license sales.

According to the WDFW, multi-season deer tags are going for $139.10 while multi-season elk tags are selling for $182. Tag costs are the same for residents and non-residents, the department reports.

$140 will buy a lot of meat from the grocery store, plus save you money and time by not having to buy hunting supplies or finding a place to hunt and cost of processing the animal, let the DNR go out and kill the animals and get the meat processed and then donate it to their favorite food bank for the people who don’t or cannot afford to hunt, just a suggestion
