Timmonsville Police Chief Thomas McFadden has been appointed the interim town administrator following the retirement of Mary Bines Robinson, according to Timmonsville Mayor William James.
James said Robinson will retire on July 25.
He added she's served the town well and helped them to get back on their feet when she stepped into the position in 2011.
"We are so grateful that she came to us. She came to us under Mayor Darrick Jackson's administration. She helped to get in compliance on a number of issues. What she has done is nothing short of amazing. And we wish her well in her retirement," said Mayor James.
James said it was a unanimous vote by council members to name McFadden work as the administrator until the position is filled.
"We feel that he is very much capable and equipped to step into that role and administrator and continue to lead the town in the right direction. He has my support and the full support of the council," said James.
