The Umpqua National Forest is planning a prescribed burn on Tuesday, the U.S. Forest Service said.
"If conditions remain favorable, the Tiller Ranger District plans to implement a 28-acre prescribed burn at Mill Hill tomorrow, June 6th," the Forest Service said.
The objectives of the burn are to reduce the risk of wildfire by decreasing onsite fuels and removing invasive species, officials said.
On-site resources will include Forest Service handcrews, engines, and EMTS; the Tiller VFD engine, and a Forest Service UAS drone.
This prescribed burn will also serve as the annual Fire Preparedness Review for the Umpqua.
"This review allows for fire resources across the forest to meet in person, ensures the fire readiness of forest resources, and gives newer crew members the chance to observe and work an actual fire event," the Forest Service said. "We're looking forward to sharing more pictures and information from the event tomorrow!"
