Disneyland to Make Big Changes to a Classic Ride

    2024-09-01

Disneyland is making significant changes to one of its classic attractions, Peter Pan’s Flight, in an effort to remove insensitive racial stereotypes and to better represent indigenous cultures. Walt Disney Imagineering released plans to update the portrayal of Tiger Lily and the Never Land Tribe, ensuring that the characters are depicted with dignity and cultural authenticity and released the below photo of the changes.

This move follows similar updates made to the Peter Pan’s Flight attraction at Florida's Magic Kingdom, where the scene now features a respectful portrayal of Tiger Lily and her tribe in a harvest celebration.

Disneyland has not yet announced when these changes will be implemented, but the updates are part of a broader effort by Disney to keep its attractions relevant, authentic, and sensitive to all cultures.

Disney stated that the original Peter Pan’s Flight has been a staple of Disneyland since its opening day in 1955, and these changes reflect the company's ongoing commitment to evolving its storytelling to meet modern standards of cultural representation.
