AMERICAN Pickers’ Robbie Wolfe has dropped $2,600 on a rare dune buggy in an episode clip.
The History Channel series’ Facebook page shared the throwback clip as fans await new episodes of American Pickers .
In the video, Robbie, 57, and Jersey Jon , 61, visited a brother and sister in Michigan whose late father had a large collection of antiques in his barn.
The American Pickers stars rummaged inside the barn for valuables with the brother, Ryan, and discovered an old dune buggy collecting dust.
Robbie explained, “You can’t think 1960s California without beach culture.”
He continued, “The cars at the time were getting bogged down and stuck in the sand.
“In 1964, Bruce Meyers developed the Meyers Manx – the very first dune buggy.”
Robbie described the Meyers Manx as “a lightweight kit car” that could be taken anywhere.
“You ordered the body and put it on a car,” he revealed.
Jersey Jon. whose real name is Jon Szalay, asked, “It’s on a Volkswagen chassis, right?” as his co-star inspected the body.
“The whole thing’s Volkswagen. Ninety-nine percent of these things were Volkswagen. They designed them off that chassis,” Robbie revealed.
Jon pointed to one appearing in The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen before Robbie announced, “Unfortunately, this isn’t the Manx.
This is the Imp. That was made by a company called E.M.P.I. and it was just a knockoff [but] still very cool and valuable if built well.
Ryan recalled, “I always remember it as the dune buggy. ‘When are we going to get the dune buggy out.'”
Later, once Ryan’s sister entered the negotiation, Robbie stated that the Imp was running it would be worth about $8,500 but he added, “It’s going to take some doing to get it there.”
“I’m still gonna have to do the tires, the breaks, [a] tune up on it, the gas tank – all these things. It’s been sitting since 1970,” Robbie annouced while driving down the price.
He did admit that the dune buggy was “put together right” and that’s a plus before offering $2,500.
The sister responded by setting the sale price at $3,000, causing Robbie to go up $100.
She smiled, looked at her brother, and told Robbie, “I think that works.”
Robbie then shook hands with the siblings for sharing a high-five with Jon.
THE PICKERS PROCESS
On Monday, Robbie’s brother, Mike Wolfe , 60, and Jersey Jon shared a video of themselves attempting to start a 109-year-old motorcycle.
Mike posted a video to his Instagram Stories of himself and his American Pickers co-star attempting to revive a 1915 Indian Motorcycle.
The post was captioned, “When all else fails, blow in the gas tank!!”
The reality TV stars were captured repeatedly trying to start the puttering Indian motorbike that refused to fire.
Jersey Jon could be seen jumping on the ratcheting lever in an attempt to kickstart the engine as Mike held the bike upright and steady.
Off-camera someone yelled, “It needs more gas.”
“Mike, blow on it again,” another onlooker instructed.
Mike moved to the side of the bike and blew inside the gas tank as Jon, 61, joked, “This is the way we do on American Pickers.”
He kicked the lever again while manning the throttle and on this attempt, the motor fired up.
Fans have demanded new episodes of the History Channel show even after the series ratings slumped last season.
Last month, Robbie posted a photo of himself and the show’s film screw sitting on the porch of a rustic cabin on Instagram.
He captioned the post, “Filming another new season of American Pickers.
The Pickers star revealed the “October 15” premiere date of the upcoming season before adding, “See you soon.”
In the post’s comment thread, an excited fan wrote, “Can’t wait.”
“Woo hoo!!” commented another.
Robbie’s reveal comes just days after Jersey Jon, told fans that the Pickers cast and crew were “in the awesome Midwest filming all new episodes.”
Jon made the announcement with an Instagram post.
It was accompanied by a looping video of a motorcycle engine, with the caption, “Get your motor runnin’!”
NEW SEASON
The updates come after American Pickers creator Mike confirmed the series had been renewed despite the dip in ratings during Season 25.
The TV personality praised the show’s production crew while confirming they were back on the road filming new episodes in a heartfelt Instagram post last month.
Mike posed with Jon and crew members in a sweet, behind-the-scenes photograph on his feed on July 24.
He told fans that “some of the people in this shot” have been working with him for 16 years, adding, “We have watched each other grow and evolve in so many beautiful ways.”
“All this reflection comes from me signing another contract today to do another season [of American Pickers],” he continued, officially confirming the series was set to return for its 26th season.
Mike, his brother Robbie , Jon, and their fellow co-star Danielle Colby hit the road to film new episodes of the long-running series after Season 25 wrapped earlier this year.
According to figures obtained exclusively from The U.S. Sun, the season premiere received the lowest ratings in years.
A total of 723,000 people tuned in for the premiere’s first episode, Classic Car Cemetery, while that number dropped to 676,000 for the second episode, Hidden Cash Stash.
In comparison, the season 24 premiere was watched by 943,000 people, indicating a nearly 25% drop in ratings.
