    MSU Extension Service announces JDC 4-H happenings for the upcoming months

    All enrolled 4-H students and interested youth are invited to attend the upcoming 4-H events in Jefferson Davis County.  All programs require registration and there are no fees to participate.  Contact the MSU Extension officer in Prentiss at 601-792-5121 to register.  You do not have to be a 4-H member to attend.     On Aug. 12 there will be a 4-H Exhibit zoom interest meeting for youth who want to create projects that will be judged and displayed at the state fair Participants will learn about opportunities to be a part of the 2024 State Fair with 4-H.  Free materials will be provided.

    The 4-H LEGO Engineers club will begin monthly meetings Aug. 22  at the MSU Extension office for Prentiss/Carson residents and Aug. 27 at the Dr. Frank L. Leggett Public Library  for Bassfield/Carson residents. This will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for youth ages 8-13.  LEGOs will be provided.

    The 2024 4-H Statewide Virtual Fishing Tournament for 4-Hers will be held this fall. Details will be forthcoming, but youth can participate from anywhere in the state by fishing on a public body of water and using a phone app called Tourney X to turn in pictures of the top five fish they catch. Prizes will be given for those that place in the top three. Contact the MSU Extension office in Prentiss to get on the list to get the details as soon as released.

    The Keys to the Community Club is available for those interested in leadership, ambassadorship, scholarships and civics/government.

    The Junior Master Wellness Club is available for those interested in learning about health, improving health literacy and healthy lifestyle choices and becoming an ambassador for JDC.

    The 4-H Disease Detectives provide the opportunity to learn about being the investigator of an outbreak using comic books and fun activities such as growing your own germs.
