Jordan Love was helped off the field with just six seconds left in the Green Bay Packers ' first game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles .

Love went down screaming in agony after being rolled up in the dying seconds as he attempted to mount an unlikely late touchdown drive. The Packers quarterback stayed down for a couple of minutes after experiencing ankle pain before trainers helped him back to the locker room, where he will be examined.

The 25-year-old had just completed a deep pass to wide receiver Jayden Reed, and was looking to pull off a rapid final drive to secure a walk-off win against the Eagles . Instead, Love was helped to the bench and replaced by backup Malik Willis, who went 0 for 1 and was unable to get off his throw for the end zone.

Love's injury didn't appear to be serious when he exited the field, but the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined. According to Doctor of Physical Therapy, Jeff Mueller, there is a concern that Love may have sprained his left MCL, or suffered a high ankle sprain.

Former Eagles star Jason Kelce sent Love his best wishes after tuning in to watch the game from home. Kelce wrote on X: "Hopefully Jordan Love is okay, love watching him play, was quietly a little nervous about this one, big win for the Good Guys."

This was meant to be a huge year for Love in an improved Packers roster, after landing his major contract extension. The Packers quarterback who served as a backup to Aaron Rodgers signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension in July.

On Friday, he completed the longest touchdown pass of his career with a 70-yard toss to Reed in the second quarter. Despite a double from Reed and a touchdown from Christian Watson, the Packers were outclassed by a stunning debut from Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

The former New York Giants running back scored three touchdowns on the night, marking a memorable game in Brazil. Friday was the first game ever hosted in South America, as Sao Paulo won the bid to stage the occasion at Corinthians Arena.

The sell-out crowd led to a piercing atmosphere, but the turf was a subject of much criticism from watching fans . Chunks of turf were flying everywhere throughout the game, and it led to members of the Eagles and Packers changing their cleats in the first half.

It made a difference too, as they started to take control of a game that was dominated by unforced errors. It's not known if the poor turf impacted Love's injury, or made it worse once his foot was planted, but the Packers organization will be hoping that their quarterback doesn't miss considerable game time.

Wimp. I had the worst type of ankle fracture that anyone could suffer. It was broken three places and the bones were sticking completely out through the skin. And I just laid on the floor calmly until the ambulance came. The only time it hurts was when they did the third surgery on it and that's when they put all the plates and rods in it
