New Netflix series The Perfect Couple gets rave reviews - but fans have one complaint

Netflix’s The Perfect Couple premiered on the streaming platform on Thursday, and since its debut, it has caused a wave of reactions on social media.

Starring in the film is Nicole Kidman along with other big names Dakota Fanning, Liev Schreiber, and many more. The mystery revolves around events leading up to a grand wedding. Amelia Sachs, portrayed by Eve Hewson, is on the brink of marrying into the affluent Nantucket Winbury family. Amelia’s future mother-in-law happens not to welcome the union. The turning point comes when a body is discovered on the beach, leading every member of the wedding party to turn into a suspect. Amid the death family secrets are uncovered.

On X, formerly Twitter , those who watched the six-episode series couldn’t help but give their opinion of it on the platform.

Many couldn’t get enough of Nicole and Dakota’s performance in the show. "Finished the Perfect Couple. They stole the show," one wrote on X, attaching a photo of their characters in the show Greer and Abby Winbury posing together.

Even more viewers praised the overall production of The Perfect Couple. "The casting team certainly deserves an award. #ThePerfectCouple," a person wrote on the social media platform. Complimenting the opening credits in the first episode, one raved: "Netflix have got to release an extended version of the opening credits for The Perfect Couple cos 26 seconds ain’t enough! #ThePerfectCouple @NetflixUK @netflix."

Someone else praised: "I couldn’t sleep so I started #ThePerfectCouple on Netflix and love it! Yes, it is a murder mystery but the humor is great too! The lead Detective is hysterical! Give it a watch." As another pointed out, "If you like drama and mystery...The Perfect Couple on Netflix. 10/10."

While The Perfect Couple got some positive reactions from Netflix fans, some were less impressed. Critics repeatedly slammed actors in the series for not properly portraying an American accent.

"The Perfect Couple on Netflix is a perfect show. every single person has a different accent even though they’re all supposed to be American—except for Nicole Kidman, who gets to use her real accent, and there’s also a dance sequence," one shadily wrote on X.

Another wrote: "It's very nitpicky, but the housekeeper in A perfect couple clearly is Russian or Ukrainian. From the accent, to the pronunciations, even 'Jesus Christ' was wrong. It's not that hard to find an older Polish actress or you know just make her Russian."
