The Los Angeles Fire Department were called to reports of a person threatening to jump from the 210 Freeway Roxford overpass on Aug. 9 shortly before the tragedy.

The victim's husband Florencio did not suffer any serious injuries and immediately called his son in panic at the scene. David Galindo said: "Once he told me ambulances were on the way and he pulled over to the side and couldn't open the doors, that's when I knew it was serious."

Margarita did not die at the scene but was left in ICU for weeks in a critical condition before dying of her injuries on Wednesday, reports abc7 eyewitness news. The grieving family are still coming to terms with the tragically unfortunately timing of the death, with their son Davd adding: "What if she stopped to get gas? What if she stopped to get water? This probably wouldn't have happened." Daughter Stephanie Galindo said: "It could've just been two seconds off, two inches away, my mom would've been fine."

The family also added there was no resentment towards the man who took his own life, adding that Margartia's Florencio has compassion for the man who killed the love of his life while taking his own, saying: "He doesn't know what problems he may have had to commit suicide, but he doesn't have any resentment."

Margarita's family have also launched a GoFundMe , saying: "On August 9th, my parents were driving on the freeway when a man, in a desperate attempt to end his own life, jumped from an overpass and struck their vehicle. The impact was so severe that he crashed through the windshield and landed on my mom, leaving her in critical condition.

"She fought bravely for nearly three weeks, but on August 28th, the doctors told us that she wouldn't recover. Tragically, my mom passed away, leaving behind me, my brother, my sister, and her seven grandchildren. My dad is now alone without the love of his life.

"It's incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn't want theirs. My mom was a loving and caring person, and our family is heartbroken and struggling to cope with this unimaginable loss. We’ve been by her side throughout this ordeal, and now we're asking for any support to help us give her the farewell she deserves."
