If you're thinking about a unique name for your little one, brace yourself for some potential judgement .

There's no definitive right or wrong when it comes to naming your baby ; the decision is entirely yours. However, tastes differ, and inevitably, some people may not be fans of your chosen name, whether it's traditional or more unconventional.

One mother is now having second thoughts after selecting a name for her daughter . She adores the name but has been surprised by her family's reaction on the moniker and feedback from the internet, causing her to question her decision.

On Reddit, the mom revealed that her baby girl is due in February, a month that holds special meaning as both she and her mother were born then. To honor this connection, she thought about naming her daughter February.

Her post read: "I need to be dissuaded from using the name February. [My daughter] is due in February. I was born in February and so was my mum - it is my favourite month. I mentioned this to my family and they laughed in my face. I thought the nickname Febby would be cute, but I fear now that I am wrong. I'm in the UK."

After her family ridiculed the name idea, she turned to social media for opinions on naming her daughter February.

However, many commenters on the post criticized her choice, calling the name "awful" and warning that it could lead to teasing at school if her daughter is born in February. They suggested alternative names related to the month, such as Amethyst, the February birthstone, and Violet, one of its birth flowers.

One commenter voiced their opinion: "It's awful, sorry. But if you want to honour her month, there are a few different options. Violet is one of the birth flowers for February, and I'm pretty sure Iris is one too. You could also use Winter, maybe? ".

Another added their two cents: "It's not a great name. But the thing that bothers me the most is naming her February when she's born in February. It feels like you're too lazy to think of a name so just named her after the month. I'm not saying that's the case, I don't think that at all, but that's what it will seem like."
