Republican lawmakers in the North Carolina House have elected second-term Rep. Matthew Winslow, R-Franklin, as the party’s conference chair.

Winslow succeeds Rep. Jason Saine of Lincoln County, who is stepping down this month. He worked closely with Saine as one of three deputy conference chairs, sharing the role with Reps. Jarrod Lowery of Robeson County and Erin Paré of Wake County.

“It’s an honor to serve,” Winsow wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you to everyone for their support.”

House GOP caucus director Stephen Wiley said the Wednesday vote to promote Winslow was unanimous.

The founder and president of Winslow Homes, a Triangle-area homebuilder based in Youngsville, Winslow joined the N.C. House in 2020 and was reelected in 2022.

He represents House District 7, which encompasses Franklin and Granville counties. Before boundaries shifted for the 2022 election, Winslow’s district included southern Nash County.
