NASHVILLE — Nash County leaders gathered July 9 to ceremonially break ground on a 40,000-square-foot shell building that will become part of the Nashville Business Center.

The project is a partnership between Nash County and the town to help attract more industry to a location within an hour’s drive of the Research Triangle Park and five miles from Interstate 95.

The Nashville Business Center is just west of town and close to the U.S. 64 Business interchange with U.S. 64. The industrial park is already home to ACDi Electronics and Atlantic Natural Foods.

Shell buildings are constructed without interior work so a recruited company can customize and upfit the space according to its business needs.

“When a company or a site selector is looking for product for an expanding company, speed to market is important,” Nash County Economic Development Manager Susan Phelps explained, adding that “speed to market” refers to a company’s urgency in developing a product without sacrificing quality standards.

I thought government building buildings to bring in businesses is against the US Constitution because it is in competition with its citizens. Government is not supposed to be in competition with the citizens.
