A southern Nash County man accused in a sexual assault case was arrested Monday at a Wilson motel.

Investigators in the Nash County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit pursued charges against 42-year-old Justin Wayne Parham after the alleged victim went to a hospital for treatment on June 4, according to Sgt. Kevin Bissette.

“There was a series of forensic interviews conducted by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office and Jo Ann’s Place: Nash Edgecombe Wilson Children’s Advocacy Center that developed Justin Wayne Parham as the perpetrator in the incident,” Bissette said in a Tuesday news release.

Parham is a Virginia native with ties to southern Nash County and no current permanent address, Bissette said. With assistance from Wilson police, deputies arrested Parham at the motel where he was staying and brought him back to Nash County for further questioning.

Sheriff’s deputies charged Parham with committing a second-degree forcible sex offense and giving fortified wine, spiritous liquor or a mixed beverage to anyone less than 21. The sex offense charge is a Class C felony with a presumptive sentence ranging from 4 years, 10 months to 6 years, 1 month in prison for an offender with no prior convictions.

Parham was booked into the Nash County Detention Center in Nashville under a $150,000 secured bond.
