A COMMUNITY-WIDE HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN
Keeping your dollars local plays a powerful role in supporting local jobs, keeping our economy strong, and helping our community and its businesses shine bright all year long.
This holiday season, The Daily Leader is proud to launch our Shop Local Holiday Campaign, a series highlighting local businesses and the people behind them. Each story, we’ll feature a new business, share their story, and spotlight the unique ways they contribute to our hometown.
We extend a sincere thank you to Bank of Brookhaven, our 2026 Title Sponsor, for proudly sponsoring each weekly feature and helping us champion local businesses throughout the holiday season.
When you shop local this holiday season, you’re not just buying a gift — you’re helping a local family, supporting local jobs, and investing right back into Brookhaven and Lincoln County.
Every purchase at a hometown business helps keep our lights shining downtown and across the city, our Christmas traditions thriving, and our community strong long after the holidays are over.
Our small businesses are run by our neighbors and friends — they are the people who sponsor Little League teams, donate to local fundraisers, and show up when our community needs them. Shopping local is one of the best ways to say, “Thank you,” especially during the holidays.
Online and out-of-town shopping may seem convenient, but nothing compares to the personal service, heart, and hospitality you get when you support our Brookhaven and Lincoln County merchants.
Shopping local isn’t just important during the holidays — it matters all year long. Every dollar spent here helps strengthen our local schools, support public services, and keep Brookhaven’s economy thriving.
Local businesses are the backbone of our community. When they succeed, our entire town succeeds — from job creation to community events to the next generation of entrepreneurs.
When you choose to shop local, more of your money stays here at home. It circulates through our schools, non-profits, youth programs, and the very businesses that make Brookhaven such a special place to live and work.
You’re not just supporting a business — you’re supporting someone’s dream, someone’s family, and the future of our community.

When you shop local …
… at least $68 of every $100 spent remains in the community.
American shoppers spent an estimated $3.85 trillion at local stores in 2025, equal to 51.2% of all retail sales. In Mississippi, 8.87% of all small businesses are retail — approximately 6,910 retailers. The average local retailer in Mississippi made $916,000 in sales in 2024.
People who live in neighborhoods with small businesses drive 26% less. In one week, 91% of American consumers shop at small and local stores — 80% shop locally to support the community, and 97% of consumers search online to find local businesses.
Shopping locally helps you.
