Big things are happening for Giovannie and The Hired Guns.
The Texas-based rock band made their national TV debut on the iHeartRadio Music Awards last night, performing their fan-favorite song “Ramon Ayala” for viewers all over the country.
As a fan of their music, it’s been so cool to see them go from being a local live band playing small bars and gigs around Texas to stepping into the national spotlight with massive opportunities like this. You love to see it when great music gets the recognition it deserves.
And if you aren’t too familiar with their music or have never heard of them before, it’s high time to change that.
They put out their fantastic major label debut album Tejano Punk Boys last year under Warner Music Nashville, and that’s great place to start with songs like “Overrated,” “Can’t Answer Why,” and so many other bangers.
I highly recommend you check it out, especially if you’re into artists like Pecos & The Rooftops, Kolby Cooper, and other rockers in the Texas music scene.
And ahead of the show yesterday, frontman Giovannie Yanez said it was incredible to be there not only performing, but being nominated, and they were just happy to be part of it all.
The band took home the award for Best New Artist (Alternative & Rock):
“That is really really really awesome for us to be able to come here and be nominated for something… iHeart is amazing and we’re just happy to be here for sure.”

And in the country categories, Luke Combs won Country Album Of The Year for Growin’ Up, Morgan Wallen won Country Artist of the Year, and funny enough, Cody Johnson, who’s been doin’ this for over 10 years now, took home the award for Best New Country Artist.
