Man arrested for murder after shooting at Tenino area bar

A Tenino area man was arrested and jailed Tuesday after a fatal shooting at the Old Highway 99 Bar and Grill near Tenino, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Thurston County deputies and Tenino police responded to the business at 12743 Old Highway 99 SE at approximately 5:45 p.m. after a shooting complaint.

Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered an “active disturbance,” with bar patrons restraining the shooting suspect, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

“Detectives were called in to support patrol deputies in the investigation of the shooting,” according to the sheriff’s office. “Interviews with bar patrons revealed that the suspect and a female companion had arrived at the bar following a prior disturbance. During the subsequent altercation, the suspect shot the victim, who tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene.”

The sheriff’s office did not release a description or identity of the victim on Tuesday.

The suspect, described as a man in his 60s from the Tenino area, was taken to a hospital for medical treatment after being subdued by bar patrons. He was later booked into jail.

A woman in her mid-40s, a companion of the suspect, was also arrested and booked into jail on charges related to the shooting, though additional details were not released.
