TAUNTON— Another spring high school sports regular season has come to a close in the Greater Taunton area.

Bristol-Plymouth baseball kicked off last week by claiming a share of the Mayflower Large title while Taunton softball suffered their first loss of the season in a 10 inning contest with King Philp, Dighton-Rehoboth baseball shut out Case, Taunton softball scored a big win over Bishop Feehan, Taunton boys lacrosse finished off their season with a big shutout win against New Bedford, Dighton-Rehoboth baseball earned a comeback win against Norton, several area runners and throwers medaled at their respective Division Championships and the Dighton-Rehoboth softball bats went off again against Greater New Bedford.

Taunton softball's Bella Bourque is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for May 15-21, receiving 37% of the vote while Bridgewater-Raynham baseball's Casey Wensley came in second with 18% and Bristol-Plymouth baseball's Jamari Harris received 12% to finish third.

As always, there were standout players for each team who helped guide their team last week, but only one can be named the Player of the Week.

Now it's time to make your pick for the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for May 22-28, with polls open through noon Sunday and votes limited to one vote per device per hour.

Here are the nomiees:

Baseball

Johnny Escobalez, Taunton

Escobalez tossed a complete game shutout giving up two hits and two walks while striking out five against King Philip.

Evan Samsel, Bridgewater-Raynham

Samsel had a career-high 10 strikeouts against North Attleboro.

Kyle Wheldon, Bristol-Plymouth

Wheldon tossed a complete game giving up a run on four hits while striking out six to earn the win while also having three hits and three RBIs at the plate against Shepherd Hill.

Ben Miller, Dighton-Rehoboth

Miller tossed a complete game shutout giving up four hits and two walks while striking out six and also led the way at the plate with two hits and an RBI against Case.

Softball

Kyleah Plumb, Taunton

Plumb went four-for-five with two runs and four RBIs against Bishop Feehan.

Lily Welch, Bridgewater-Raynham

Welch tossed a complete game giving up two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 and drove in a pair of RBIs at the plate against Greater New Bedford.

Haleigh Kelley, Dighton-Rehoboth

Kelley went two-for-three with two home runs, bringing her to a state best total of 13 this spring, a run and four RBIs against Greater New Bedford.

Boys Lacrosse

Thomas Murphy, Taunton

Murphy had four goals and an assist against New Bedford.

Jayson Kelleher, Bridgewater-Raynham

Kelleher had five goals and four assists against Seekonk.

Thomas Dyson, Dighton-Rehoboth

Dyson had three goals against Apponequet.

Girls Lacrosse

Mel Jesus, Taunton

Jesus made 10 saves against New Bedford.

Emily Keefe, Bridgewater-Raynham

Keefe had four goals and an assist against Dighton-Rehoboth.

Karina Bosco, Dighton-Rehoboth

Bosco had seven goals and an assist against Seekonk.

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion, Taunton

Shearrion finished fifth in the 100 meter with a time of 0:11.12 and sixth in the 200 meter with a time of 0:22.13 at the MIAA Division I Championship.

Kauan Bento, Bridgewater-Raynham

Bento finished second in the 100 meter with a personal best time of 0:10.62 at the MIAA Division II Championship.

Evan Thibert, Dighton-Rehoboth

Thibert finished 23rd in the 200 meter with a time of 0:23.96 at the MIAA Division IV Championship.

Girls Track and Field

Mary MacDonald, Taunton

MacDonald finished second in the 100 meter wheelchair with a time of 0:29.33 at the MIAA Division I Championship.

Nethica Auguste, Bridgewater-Raynham

Auguste won the triple jump with a school record distance of 37’11.5” at the MIAA Division II Championship.

Ryann Welzel, Dighton-Rehoboth

Welzel won the discus with a personal best throw of 113'1" at the MIAA Division IV Championship.

Boys Tennis

Mike Kimmer, Taunton

Kimmer won his first set of first singles 6-4 against King Philip.

Logan Thomas, Bridgewater-Raynham

Thomas won third singles against Falmouth.

Girls Tennis

Brooke Bell, Taunton

Bell won first singles 6-0, 6-0 against New Bedford.

Boys Volleyball

Ian Hoskins, Dighton-Rehoboth

Hoskins had 17 kills against Brockton.
