    NEW JERSEY - With classes set to resume at schools next month, what better time to see how our area high schools fared on U.S. News & World Report ’s 2024 list of “ Best High Schools in New Jersey " and the nation?

    Ridge High School has been ranked No. 25 in New Jersey in the magazine's annual rankings. Among Somerset County high schools, Ridge achieved the highest position, with Bernards High School at No. 59, Hillsborough High School at No. 61, Watchung Hills Regional High School at No. 81, Bridgewater-Raritan Regional at No. 108.

    According to the magazine’s 2024 high school rankings, 42 of New Jersey’s high schools placed in the top 5% nationally. The magazine evaluated 314 New Jersey school districts, including 426 public high schools across the state. New Jersey high school students are assessed in math, English language arts and science via the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments. High school students are required to study a world language as well as visual and performing arts to graduate, according to the New Jersey Department of Education. To learn more, click here ,

    To calculate rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluates college readiness, scholastic proficiency, state assessment test performance, college preparation curriculum, and graduation rates.

    New Jersey’s top ten high schools are all “magnet schools” (also known as vocational-technical schools), or they are specialized high schools for high-achieving students, according to U .S.
