TAMPA, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested the man connected to a homicide Friday night.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Joel Elkanah Jr., 25, turned himself in without incident.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to bring justice to the victim and the victim’s loved ones,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest serves as a testament to the commitment and expertise of our detectives, who spared no effort in pursuing leads and gathering evidence.”

On Friday, deputies responded to the report of a shooting on the 12100 block of Nebraska Avenue just after 7 p.m. When deputies arrived, they located a victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
