What happened to Shaquil Barrett’s daughter, Arrayah?

The football player recently welcomed his fifth child with wife Jordanna Barrett

SHAQUIL Barrett is well-known for his athleticism as an outside linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.

However, the NFL player suffered a devastating loss in his personal life after his daughter, Arrayah, tragically died in an accident a few weeks after celebrating her second birthday.

What happened to Shaquil Barrett's daughter?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett suffered a tragic loss after his then-youngest daughter, Arrayah, died after drowning in a pool.

A spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said they arrived at Shaquil Barrett's home in the Beach Park neighborhood of Tampa, Florida at 9.30am on Sunday, April 30, 2023, and the child was transported to a hospital.

Doctors at the hospital performed life-saving measures, but Shaquil's daughter died at the facility later that morning.

Police opened an investigation but said they do not believe there was any foul play.

Officers did not provide any other details about how the girl ended up in the pool.

Arrayah's heartbreaking death comes less than two weeks after dad Barrett shared pictures of his little girl celebrating her second birthday on Instagram.

The post was captioned: "Happy 2nd bday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl😘😘 #TGBTG #BIG2"

The tiny toddler could be seen beaming in a pink tutu with flowers on her head and a matching birthday T-shirt.

Arrayah was the youngest of Barrett's four children.

Tom Brady, who was Barrett's teammate for three seasons in Tampa Bay, shared a picture of the whole Barrett family on his Instagram story with the caption: "The Brady's love you."

Retired star tight end Rob Gronkowski also played with Barrett for two seasons in Tampa and took to Instagram to share a story of Barrett with Arrayah.

Gronkowski wrote: "Sending you and your family all the love and prayers."

Patrick Mahomes posted on Twitter about the tragedy and sent his love to Barrett and his family.

The two-time Super Bowl champion wrote: "Prayers to the entire Barrett family."

The Bucs' official statement on the tragedy read: "Today's tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time."

Who is Shaquil Barrett's wife, Jordanna?

Shaquil Barrett is currently married to Jordanna Barrett.

The duo originally met in high school, and started dating when they were teenagers.

The high school sweethearts tied the knot on February 2, 2012.

Jordanna is more than just your average WAG.

She previously worked as a social worker and is currently an entrepreneur and social media influencer.

Jordanna was born on November 24, 1992, in Omaha, Nebraska.

She is the founder of the Fifty50 Foundation, a nonprofit that "seeks to fill children's hearts back full, one child at a time," according to the charity's Instagram account.

The Fifty50 foundation is also "dedicated to serving children in the foster care system."

After her daughter Arrayah's tragic death, she also founded the Arrayah Hope Foundation.

The foundation aims to provide free swimming lessons to children in need in Tampa, Florida.

Barrett himself hopes that they can continue to grow and expand the foundation beyond Tampa.

“As big as we can make it, we’re going to make it,” Barrett said.

“But we’re going to start off locally first," he told Bucs Wire.

Jordanna is also a social media personality, regularly posting updates about her day-to-day life and philanthropic efforts on her Instagram.

She currently boasts nearly 14,000 followers on her social media account.

Do they have other kids?

Shaquil and Jordanna Barrett have several children together.

They have sons Braylon and Shaquil Jr., as well as a daughter, Aaliyah.

The couple's fourth child, Arrayah, tragically passed away on April 30, 2023.

Back in July 2023, Barrett told ESPN that it's been "a daily battle, a tough battle," as he reflected on his loss.

"Her smile — I just miss her so much. Her energy, just like putting her to bed every night, reading stories," he added.

"She just brought so much brightness and wholeness and completeness to our lives," he said, as reported by People.

Just a few weeks after suffering the devastating loss, Jordanna revealed that she was pregnant with the couple's fifth child.

"A few weeks after our sweet girls heaven day, Shaquil and I found out we were expecting," she captioned the post.

"I just know Arrayah had a special hand in picking this sweet girl to add to our family!"

"We are so beyond blessed, so beyond grateful that God chose to give us another little girl!"

"We miss our Arrayah every second of every day, but I rest in knowing she’s going to be the best big sister angel to little miss Allanah!"

"Arrayah has given me hope. She has changed so many lives with the short 2 years she blessed this earth, and God works in such mysterious ways, but I will never ever doubt his plans for my life," she added.

Months later, the proud mom also revealed she had given birth to the couple's fifth child, who they named Allanah Ray, on February 3, 2024.

"We welcomed Our sweet Allanah Ray, our heart is so full!" the new mom posted, alongside pink heart emojis and Allanah's birthdate.

"We love you so much already babygirl," she added.
